Railings in a cultural-historical setting
At Uppsala Castle and Art Museum, wire mesh was installed in the new railings as part of the renovation of the entrance.
In culturally and historically significant settings, there are strict requirements that new additions must harmonize with the existing architecture. The cable mesh system makes it possible to create safe railings while keeping the building’s historical character and materials front and center.
Webnet with wrap-around wire
The project utilized Webnet with an encircling wire. This design creates a stable and structurally sound wire mesh that integrates into the railing frame, resulting in a clean and elegant finish.
The fine mesh size provides effective protection while maintaining transparency.
A natural choice for cultural heritage projects
Stainless steel wire mesh has become a standard choice of material in many cultural heritage projects where new safety requirements must be reconciled with existing architecture.
Thanks to their transparency, long service life, and minimal maintenance requirements, these railings can be installed in a way that both respects the building’s cultural heritage and meets today’s safety standards.
