The headquarters of Austrian travel specialist ASI Reisen fits perfectly with the company's philosophy of promoting sustainable ways to experience nature. Set in green surroundings, the four-storey building uses sustainable construction methods and a modern energy concept.
An important part of this is the green façade that envelops the entire building. This is made possible by Jakob Rope System’s Webnet. Different types of stainless steel mesh provide the structure for greening. Frames are integrated into the mesh to serve as windows.
The green concept used here is unique and tailor-made. 17 different species offer changing colors throughout the year. The growing vegetation also has a functional component: the plants shed their leaves according to the season's annual thermal insulation needs. In summer, the plants allow for shade and privacy despite the glass facade of the building. The microclimate created by greening also insulates the building and reduces energy consumption for air conditioning. In winter with fewer leaves, the sun is let into the office space. Some evergreen species provide a glimpse of green even in the colder seasons.
Versatile Webnet variations
To provide the perfect structure for the various uses of the green façade, different types of Webnet were used Webnet . On the terrace, the lower part of the mesh openings is narrower and horizontal. At a height of one meter, the mesh openings are vertical and wider. This provides both a denser structure at the bottom and a clear view above. Webnet sleeves increases transparency, while Webnet sleeves is used for the roof terrace on top of the building.
