Facade cladding and security through Webnet L’Île-Saint-Denis.
An industrial wasteland on the Île de la Seine on the outskirts of Paris is being transformed into an eco-district where Webnet contribute to the positive balance.
Remaining industrial plants and warehouses, a partially contaminated 22-hectare wasteland: Friche Michels was a bleak site on the Parisian periphery. Now the area on the island of Saint-Denis in the Seine has been revived. To recreate the area, as many as 165 houses have been built with a focus on low energy and sustainability.
The neighborhood is being built with sustainability and low energy consumption in mind – each project addresses a current issue in sustainable construction. For the facades, for example, the designers developed a new recycling concept in which Webnet a major part of the building's sustainability strategy. The stainless steel wire mesh creates a fall protection on balconies and at the same time provides support for climbing plants to move freely across.
Facade greening by using Webnet create trellises on buildings contributes to the growth of plants, which in turn creates a better outdoor environment while keeping buildings cooler for a better indoor climate. The overall energy balance is simply improved; in summer, shade and evaporative cooling are created. In winter, the building is better insulated.
The green walls also protect the facades from weather and UV light and increase its durability.
Greening increases biodiversity and provides a new habitat for animals such as insects and birds, but also plants.
